What a good welcome! The fifth edition of the “el dia minimúsica” took place last Sunday in a clear sunny day. The streets of the new location, El Poble Espanyol (Barcelona) were full of families, new activities and funny activities for the little ones. Calzados Victoria couldn’t miss this edition with its vintage Van where attendees could get to know the new SS’17 styles and take part in lots of exciting traditional games called “Juegos de pueblo” (Village games).
For those who do not know about this festival, “el día minimúsica” is an event for children coproduced by minimúsica and Primavera Sound, which seeks that kids enjoy and experience new family offers, music performances, workshops, outdoor games, healthy food, sport, fashion and other activities with a familiar and sustainable philosophy.
El Poble Espanyol turned into the “kids city”! Its streets and squares were closed to the traffic and filled of musical performances, laughs and games… The hoop, the skip rope, the horseshoe or the hopscotch were some of the activities organized by Calzados Victoria. The kids were able to bring back nice memories of traditional games which have been with us for lots of generations… same as Victoria shoes do!
Spanish well-known artists, like El Pelit de Cal Eril, Maïa Vidal, Paul Riba or Los Ganglios got to the stage creating great expectation. Next to the main stage was located our Victoria Van! Lots of families came to discover our SS’17 collection and one of the most representative styles, the rubber-toed canvas plimsolls reference 06627.
It was a great pleasure to see the kids enjoying in such a familiar atmosphere!

Metallic tones, volumes and mixtures of different materials are the main features of the SS17 collection, which is the largest collection of Victoria so far.
Our classic canvas plimsolls, which are Victoria’s icon, come in new colours such as NUDE, ZAFIRO, ESCAMA or BÁLTICO.
Bright colours and metallized materials are very strong in this collection: glitter, patent leather or metallized cloth come in form of derby shoes, high heels, safari shoes or sneakers.
Sneakers increase their presence in this collection, including new features such as Velcro and elastic trims, as well as new materials. Furthermore, this Summer we have a new sole which is the perfect mixture of sport chic style (and one of our most comfy soles). The main styles are made of split leather, metallic fabrics or canvas.
Boho trend is very important in this collection too: ethnic prints come in form of plimsolls, slip-on shoes or jute platforms.
The kid’s collection brings comfy, cool and fun styles. This Summer the colour palette increases in the basic styles such as the canvas plimsoll, which is now available in more than 50 tones, the canvas plimsoll with rubber toe, Mary-Jane, derby shoes with velcro or derby platform shoes.
Apart from that, the basics collection has a newcomer: our new canvas slip-on with transverse elastic band.
Dyed canvas comes in colours such as NUDE, ZAFIRO or OCEANO: canvas plimsolls with rubber toe, new sporty styles both for babies and toddlers, slip-on shoes, and derbies with elastic bands.
This collection offers a funny variety of prints as well: stars, polka dots, fish or Liberty London.
Leather or glitter sneakers complete Victoria’s SS17 proposal for kids.
Bamba by Victoria increases its range this season and offers styles for women as well.
Split leather is a new material in the collection and offers many possibilities: the whole shoe in perforated split leather and different mixtures of materials: waxed split leather and textile (200114) or canvas and split leather. BURDEOS and CUERO are the two main new colours.
There are more mixtures of materials: braided fabrics, canvas and mesh, and linen and textile. Linen plays an important role in this Mediterranean collection as well. Bamba basic styles increase their colour palette with VINO, KAKI and ORO.
Once upon a time, more than 100 years ago in 1915, in a small town in La Rioja, Spain, a guy called Gregorio had the idea of creating a shoe. And because he was such a romantic soul, he named it after his first love – his wife, Victoria.
The canvas shoes were called “Inglesas”, and they became famous. Everyone wanted to wear them.
Victoria’s shoes are made of material that comes from a plant called cotton – it’s 100% natural. The fabric is dyed to get different shades. More than one hundred incredible colours have been created! The sole contains natural rubber, sourced from the rubber tree itself. When it comes to making the shoes, experts sew the cotton fabric to form the upper part of the shoe.
A method called vulcanisation is used to create the rubber sole. The rubber is moulded into a sole through a “cooking” process, combining heat and pressure, and it is directly attached to the fabric of the shoe. This is how the two parts become one, so that they never, eeeeever part!
Want to know a secret about the shoes that Gregorio made for Victoria? Grab your Victoria shoe and give it a sniff… The sole smells of strawberries! We add perfume to the mix, so you’re always thinking of summer.
The famous Inglesas by Victoria have been made in the same way since the start, and that’s how so many people have enjoyed their Victoria shoes during summers across the generations. Maybe your parents or grandparents even wore them, too!
But this once-upon-a-time story is far from over. The Inglesas have grown up, studied languages and are now exploring the world. They’ve made it to more than 40 countries!
How far will Victoria’s gift go?
Few more things could be more pleasing than finding a so chic look with our victoria shoes.

How to summarize 100 years in 20 seconds? The students from the master’s in Motion Graphics Design at IED Madrid have shown us it’s possible to do it and, even more, to get great results! For the fourth year running, these students have worked in an audiovisual project inspired in the brand Victoria.
The course, specialized in motion graphics effects, is provided in the design school Istituto Europeo di Design in Madrid. The final project of the students consisted of creating a spot based in the key values of Victoria: a 100-year-old footwear brand made in Spain, high environmental awareness, strong international presence and commitment to design and new technologies.
Five projects with a high level of quality and creativity are the result of this collaboration. The IED students suggest a new brand vision with lots of talent and originality reaching clearly the objectives of the collaboration.
Ana Gutiérrez and Natasha Hodgkins present us “Handmade summer, verano Victoria”. This mixed animation project combines traditional animation (recyclable material elements, watercolours and acrylics) with digital technology. The spot takes us to summer with its bright colours and reminiscences of this season: ice cream, sunglasses or a bicycle.
Guillermo León, Santiago Cifuentes, Luis Núñez and Maite Martín, have created a spot which leads us travelling across the brand and the history of fashion and art. The “Inglesa” plimsoll is the key object which is combined with geometric line elements and refined colours. 2D and 3D motions are mixed in a dynamic video with references to the timelessness of Victoria.
Julio Núñez, David Rubio, Fernando Tendero and Simone Gallucci present “Nature,” a spot where the shoes become another element of nature, living in perfect harmony with flowers and animals. Hummingbirds trying to suck the pleasant scent of the Victoria shoes, chameleons mimicking the canvas colour or frogs spying curious the plimsoll.
Florinda Pamungkas, Irune Azkarate, Marianne and David Patarroyo have created a project full of symbolism and constant references to the values of Calzados Victoria: the carnation, the Spanish national flower, makes a clear reference to the origins of the brand. The female body reinforces the character of Victoria, the monarch butterfly is the symbol of the transformation, colorful and multidisciplinary facet of the Victoria’s collections. The eye takes us to Asia, one of the major international markets, while the poem guides us during the audiovisual strengthening the understanding.
Ramón Arcas, Auxi Alba and Alejandra Fonseca base their spot in the manufacturing process of the classic “Inglesa” plimsoll, recreating a history in a happy, cheerful atmosphere with “Kawaii”, the Japanese style elements, full of life, tender and innocence. The use of pastel colours and accessories is the result of the seeking of harmonization with Victoria commercial campaigns.
Congratulations to all of you and thanks for collaborating again with Calzados Victoria… the result is wonderful!
